The Newfoundland and Labrador Nurses’ Respiratory Society

Who We Are

The NLNRS, founded in 1971, is a special interest group of the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland (ARNNL) and The Lung Association Newfoundland and Labrador (NLLA).  Its is a professional association representing nurses interested and practicing in the respiratory field. The Society works with the Canadian Nurses’ Respiratory Society (CNRS) to promote high quality respiratory care though respiratory nursing education and research.

Philosophical Statement

In accordance with the CNRS, the NLNRS directs its energies toward the provision of high quality respiratory nursing care to promote respiratory health and prevent and/or manage respiratory illness.

Objectives

  * To promote respiratory nursing care
  * To promote educational opportunities to assist nurses in keeping their knowledge of respiratory health and illness current
  * To facilitate nursing research related to respiratory health and illness
  * To further the objectives of the NLLA
  * To act as an advisory body to the NLLA on nursing matters
  * To liaise with the CNRS, ARNNL and other groups on matters related to respiratory health
  * To participate in public education regarding respiratory health care

Annual General Meeting

During the NLNRS annual general meeting June 10, 2004, Jeanette Andrews, Executive Director of ARNNL, gave a short history of ARNNL on celebrations of it’s 50th Anniversary.
