  No community has been more adversely affected than St. Lawrence, and no people have ever suffered more than those who saw their family members die prematurely or have their quality of life compromised forever, due to the poor air quality in the fluorspar mines, where workers innocently spent their days and nights in an effort to make a living.

  In 1998, Elizabeth Dobbin (nee: Giovannini), along with other family members and friends of those who worked in the St. Lawrence mines, organized and implemented the first Clovelly Golf Tournament - a St. Lawrence Miner’s Memorial Event. An event that has grown each year since its inception.

  This annual golf tournament takes place in July at Clovelly Golf Course, and all funds raised through this event go towards indoor air quality.

Clean Air Award

  This award is presented to business or public places that have committed to providing smoke free spaces or have implemented scent free policies.  This is a recognition program that focuses on attempts to improve air quality.
